From the Pastor's Study:

If you were present on Sunday morning, April 20, 2008, in our Worship, you would have
heard a sermon on LIVING STONES.  You would have heard from Peter’s first letter,
“LIKE LIVING STONES, LET YOURSELVES BE BUILT INTO A SPIRITUAL
HOUSE”.  What in the world does that mean?  In 1950, I was just a small child when my
parents moved to Veterans’ Court (this is where the walking trails are on Race Street).
There were some steps leading out to the back yard.  At the bottom of the steps was
simple ground that became muddy when it rained.  I do not know who fell or if anyone
fell; but it was unsafe.  So I am sure at the encouragement of my Mother, my Dad poured a
concrete slab for safety.  Fifty years later my Mother, my family, and I were walking the
park.  My Mother stopped and pointed out the slab...still there after all these years.  I saw
it in my Mother’s face; the story that concrete slab had to tell was shining through her eyes
and face.  Rocks, trees, horseshoe pits, and tombstones, all have a story.  What is your
story?  And will you tell it?  Living stones, God’s people called out of darkness into a
marvelous light to PROCLAIM THE MIGHTY ACTS OF CHRIST.  In April, I have
encouraged you to pray by faith for others and to tell your story of the grace and mercy you
have received from God to others.  In May, I will encourage you to demonstrate to others
the love that Christ has given to you.  Why?  So as we are blessed, therefore we can
become a blessing.

Your pastor,
The Rev. Frank Stewart
